In short
Pagewell Nightjar collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The developer has no access to what you write.
Where your data lives
- Journal entries (text, photos, mood, emotions, type) are stored on your device.
- If iCloud is enabled, they sync through the private CloudKit database of your Apple account: only you can access it, under Apple's iCloud terms. No developer server is involved.
- You can export your entire journal as a text file at any time, from the app's Settings.
Face ID / Touch ID
The biometric lock is handled entirely by iOS through LocalAuthentication: the app only receives the outcome (unlocked or not), never biometric data.
Photos
Pagewell Nightjar uses the system photo picker (PhotosPicker): the app only receives the images you explicitly choose, with no access to your library.
Notifications
The optional daily reminder is a local notification, scheduled on your device. No data leaves your phone.
Siri and widget
The "Add a journal entry" Siri intent and the widget operate locally on the app's data, with the same guarantees described above.
Changes to this policy
